Tech Pack or Spec Sheet
The Tech Pack stands for the technical package.
It is also known as a product pack or spec sheet.
So what’s the tech pack?
It is an informative blueprint of the desired product which is created by the Buyer’s designer to give the manufacturers to make a finished product. It contains all the components and instructions for a manufacturer to run the production.
Tech pack works as a mirror of the final product that's the master document from the buyer to track product development during sample making as well as bulk production.
This tech-pack
is provided to the manufacturer by the buyer through merchandiser that varies
buyer to buyer who will provide how.
1. A sample garment, developed by the buyer as a
reference
2. A scanned copy of final garments as a sample
2.A scanned copy of the printed fabric
3.Trim sample
4. Hard pattern
5.Soft copy of the pattern
A Tech Pack includes:
1.Technical Sketches: It’s a flat illustration of complete
garments according to the buyer’s required design from different angles. It helps
to visualize a final pattern to make sample garments.
2. Fabric specification: It includes fabric
construction in detail to make the buyer’s desired products.
3. Sample Sizes and Measurements: It contains all
required size numbers & measurements for every component to develop
required sample garments where one size is used as a standard size.
4. Constructions Details: It contains a diagram for
pointing out every component in detail to make sure proper placement of any special requirements which is not mentioned in the sketch sheet.
5. Bill of Materials (BOM): It's an extensive list
of all items, components & instructions required for making finished
garments.
It’s a centralized source of information from the order
placing to final production including packaging.
6. Stitches and Seams: It includes stitches &
seams usage in details such as stitch class, stitch per inch, seam ISO &
allowances, etc.
7. Branding Artwork: It shows the placement of
special artwork including price tag, hand tag, care labels, etc
8. Colorway Specs: It shows the colorways of full
garments & which color will be placed wherein the garments by following the Pantone book
reference.
9. Other technical data related to garment
construction: This contains extra information that’s required to run final a production such as Measurement specs: after making the first sample, its made
to check it against given measurement
Why Teck Pack is needed?
A tech pack works as a concrete guideline to the
manufacturer for making a finished garment according to the buyer’s requirements. It's difficult for manufacturers to develop a product by following your idea without a perfect tech pack.
With a tech pack, the manufacturer is more likely to
get a sample on how to make it with minimal errors. It also helps the merchandiser
to make sure proper price quotations for making orders.
It’s also used as a reference against produced
garments to ensure the desired quality with time to spare and helps to track anything
if the buyer doesn’t give final approvals.
So we can say, a Tech Pack plays a vital role from
order to shipping time to maintain buyer’s requirements that make sure buyer
satisfaction.
